The Australian government is increasing pressure on the Kremlin as it tries to bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end.
The government is trying to target Russia's inner sanctum, with the assistance of the US and other countries, by imposing sanctions.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne said on Saturday it is working to impose sanctions on Vladimir Putin himself and the Russian foreign minister.
Australia would be better off stopping immigration, foreign students, remittance of Australian money to those countries who declare themselves neutral, but continue to buy Russian arms. Too hard! Easier to engage in more bullshit!

When Russia invaded Crimea (when it was part of Ukraine) in 2014 when Obama was in power, the people of Crimea protested against Ukrain for sending in troops to stop the Russian invasion because they believed themselves to be Russian. (How Ukraine was formed is a long story). But what has happened since then is that Ukrain leaders who are close to Nato influence dammed up the Crimean's only water supply to the Island and forced millions of women and children to ration their water to only 1 hr of water supply every day. During this time, Russia has done all it can do for the people to have water but has not found any alternate means. So the Ukrainian leader has provoked Puttin and is also a bully and is guilty of atrocities, yet this is not being spoken about in the West, which makes it evident that the world elites want to grab more power and control for themselves through propaganda. Propaganda in the sense that we are not told the whole truth.
I do not condone what Puttin is doing now, but he did approach Nato and Ukraine to talk, but they did not budge on anything. How sad is that.

If putting Sanctions on Russia is your definition of increasing pressure, then you need a new dictionary, never, in the history of the world, has sanctions ever had a positive effect on any problem, the only reason that politicians use sanctions is because they are too weak to take any other action, but they know their citizens will demand that they do something, so they point at the sanctions and say see we are doing something, even though they know that the sanctions will do nothing.
