Right now in Victoria only 4% of power is generated by solar, despite 9 500MW facilities in operation. 60% of the power comes from coal, 13% from gas, 12% from NSW hydro 9% from wind, despite over 30 large wind facilities in operation. So called "renewables" are a gimmick.
A Nuclear industry in a country with 1/3 of the worlds uranium is a no brainer.

China doesn't run much on their rubbish renewables so why should we? They use coal and nuclear power stations by far and still building dozens of new coal-fired power stations and several new nuclear ones to boot. Australia appears to be run by morons voted in by morons. Hopefully, that will change come the next election.
