France is very smart, they are trying to use their obsolete weapon to make last effort to make money from India. In the era of stealthy fighters, especial that is what IAF will face to PLAAF, anything not stealthy will be only targets.
As for engine is the same, France has no ability to make powerful jet engine, its M88 on Rafale is only 70 kn, vs to China's WS 15 's 180 kn, France has no ability to jet engine with max power more than 100 kn
