I'll bet NRMA is concerned when basic third party insurance for a few hundred a year covers fire. On top of that concern they probably worry that comprehensive insurance will become so expensive that many will opt out.

I agree these are very, very dangerous and also trying to find a place to dispose of them after they’re no longer usable for your electric vehicle is so detrimental to our environment.
