What have the communists done over the last years; 1) mandatory smoke detector, electrical/gas inspections 2) minimal rental standard inspections 3) now there will be thermal standards that require older. Building to be renovated 4) 3x increase in council rates since 2016 5) land tax approx 50% of the council rates 6) interest rates of 8%+ for investment properties. I have no idea why the rent is increasing at 20%+ per year. This is all design to cause landlords to exit the market, so the black rocks, etc can come and buy up the rental properties on the cheap like in the US. Then watch what happens to rents, when they control the markets and the legislators. People will need 3 jobs to pay rent or become honeless

How about get rid of Stamp Duty AND land tax so that when you own the title 'IN FEE SIMPLE" you actually own it, instead of owning it conditional on paying ridiculous fees to an over-bloated government.

New launches are way to expensive to buy.
Aussies generally prefer to consume than to save monies to buy a new launch for rental.
The only people who would buy are the “ suckers “ from overseas.
They are usually Chinese.
They just want to buy some overseas property for comfort and not necessarily to make a great investment.
They are buying lots of properties in Bangkok where the government have given them 5 star treatment.
They are lukewarm about Australia as they have been burnt many times.
Singapore imposed like 30% as stamp duty…..CRAZY.
