There was a long standoff. The same thing happened in Israel some years ago with the Catholics giving sanctuary. And, of course, Julian Assange held out for years. That is far less than those who are in militia and hate groups. There are an estimated 330 million Americans. Not sure how they get the number 11 million but, be that as it may, the resources and energy spent on deporting 11 million illegals will surely break this country.
