Mandatory COVID tests considered for return to schools
State and territory leaders are considering a plan to make students take regular COVID tests before they're allowed to come to class. National Cabinet is considering new modelling from the Doherty Institute showing rapid antigen testing of students at home twice a week would help detect cases early and reduce the risk of outbreaks. If a case is picked up, rather than shutting the whole school down, the experts say testing classmates everyday for a week and only sending positive children home would be enough.
