Port of Darwin's Chinese ownership under review
The federal government is considering if the Port of Darwin's ownership by a Chinese company constitutes a national security risk. Landbridge Managing Director Mike Hughes has resigned amid speculation the multinational company could be forced to release its lease over Australia's northern deepwater port. ASPI's John Coyne told Sky News Australia there can be no doubt the Chinese Community Party will react in a short sharp way. 'There will be plenty of rhetoric thrown around. More than likely there'll be some economic ramifications,' he said.
