Journalist and author Ian Woods says the Conservatives in the United Kingdom need a 'safe pair of hands' following the resignation of outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Mr Wood said there was no 'run-away favourite' to succeed Mr Johnson.
'Perhaps what the conservatives need is a safe pair of hands,' he told Sky News Australia.
'That is the anti-thesis of what Boris Johnson has brought.'
