Foreign Minister Penny Wong says there are 'challenges' in the relationship between China and Australia.
Ms Wong said she looked forward to the bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi taking place later today.
'I look forward to an open discussion with my counterpart,' she said.
'We all know that we have our differences.
"There are challenges in the relationship.'
