Dismantling William Crowther's statue will create a 'dangerous precedent'

????

Sky News host Chris Smith says it would be an 'Australian first' to cancel an early civic leader because of his crimes against Indigenous people. Hobart City Council is voting on a proposal to dismantle a statue of the former Tasmanian Premier William Crowther from their city square. Mr Crowther is infamous for cutting off and stealing the skull of Aboriginal man William Lanne after he died in 1869, replacing the skull with another man's to conceal the act. 'But here's the thing ... dismantling Crowther's bronze statue, might sound reasonable, but it will create a dangerous precedent,' Mr Smith said.
