Sky News host Chris Kenny says there should be 'outrage' about the revelations former prime minister Scott Morrison secretly swore himself into several ministerial positions.
'The sense of scandal is wholly justified, it has been revealed to be even worse today, and those who downplay it, really need to think about the implications for good governance,' Mr Kenny said.
'We had one prime minister, secretly shadowing the powers of five senior ministers, and not telling the cabinet, the parliament or the public about it.
'There was no transparency and therefore no accountability.
'For those of us who warned throughout the pandemic about government overreach and a lack of democratic oversight and accountability, these revelations are astounding, they prove it was much, much worse than we even knew at the time.'
The Liberal party should have thrown him under the bus for this one. Morrisons behaviour was inappropriate and such deception should be unacceptable from any PM or minster.
The Liberal party would have earned universal respect by hanging Morrison out to dry. How hard is it to articulate a principle and stand by it. Morrison deserves no loyalty from the party who he deceived.
Sadly they called it a stunt and almost entirely voted against the censure motion. The optics are terrible - the Liberal party appears to be condoning these secret ministries.
Sacrificing Morrison would be a lesson to all future PMs from all parties. Expect no mercy or loyalty after deceiving the Parliament and the Australian public on a matter so fundamental.
Yes this censure motion was a stunt by Labor who have made political mileage from it. But the reason for the motion was sound. It lowered trust in our Democracy.
Do better - articulate your principles and act accordingly. Don't put political expedience ahead of doing the right thing.
A sad day for the Liberal Party and for Australian democracy.

Morrison put himself in a position where if needed he could make sure government could continue to operate during an (at the time) unknown viral outbreak. He never exercised any tasks or orders.
