Former Liberal MP Dave Sharma says China has used US House Speaker Nany Pelosi's visit to Taipei to effectively 'normalise high frequency, high intensity' military operations across the Taiwan Strait.
'What that means is that if China does choose to take military action against Taiwan, we will have less warning time,' Mr Sharma told Sky News Australia.
'And it will often be difficult to distinguish a normal exercise from an actual military operation.'
