Russia fines tech giants for illegal content

A Moscow court has fined Google $135 million for failing to delete content deemed illegal under Russian law. Hours after the verdict Meta, the parent company of Facebook, was fined $37 million for similar offences. Twitter was also handed a $56,000 fine earlier in the week. Russia is ordering technology giants to delete posts promoting drug abuse and information relating to extremist or terrorist behaviour. Google has said it will study the court rulings before deciding on further steps.
