No doubt, the US will shut down EV and green tech from China. It’s political expediency to do so. It’s also too much pride for the US to admit that China has outcompeted it in virtually in all dimensions.
As to Germany, the story is quite different. It has committed suicide in terms of its industries. It pissed away Russian energy under duress from the US. Its industries can’t compete in the world market because of high cost of energy. It’s between a rock and a hard place with no good solution. As a result, it goes where the wind blows. In one moment, it talks tough with lots of bravado. In another moment, it comes begging for help with tail between its legs. It’s sad. Nobody knows where Germany is going to end up. But the picture looks rather bleak. In the end, I think it’ll just muddle along, mostly taking cues and orders from Washington.
