all modern sewerage systems requires pump station transfer= equals NO flushing toilet, pumps for water storage =eqauals NO tap water, NO lights, NO refrigeration, NO charging all your electronic devices, NO fuelling your car, go ahead BLACKOUT BOWEN, turn off Australia's coal diesel and gas fired generators and see what happens.

The false and delusional belief that man’s effects on the Earth’s climate are significant and dangerous, the false and delusional belief that transitioning to non fossil fuel energy sources will be cheap and easy and the false and delusional belief that nuclear power plants are unsafe are still pervasive popular delusions in this country. It is highly irresponsible and economically destructive for our current government to collude with these ridiculous popular delusions. We need to withdraw from the fraudulent Paris Accord and use the most economical energy resources available.

what happens when our renewable energy infrastructure needs to be renewed oh i know we will have graveyards of solar panels and wind turbines but do not worry we will just spend more billions to replace it well done Chris Bowen do you really care about Australia or is it all about money and being reelected

Meanwhile Europe small nations building nuclear and they are poorer than Australia.
@minakatahizuru Says:
Destroying nature with crappy panels and turbines is not good for nature. Nuclear is better.

There is another weather problem with renewables that I have recently learned about and has not been discussed. Yes, renewables aren't reliable when the weather is uncooperative. But recently in Texas, a hail storm wiped out an entire solar farm. Every solar panel was destroyed and now they have to deal with the heavy metals getting into the ground and leaching into the groundwater. Of course now the solar farm is permanently offline. So we are placing our energy generation in jeopardy of storms that would not do any major damage to traditional power plants. This is very dangerous. Storms like tropical cyclones and tornadoes, which the American Midwest is famous for, could permanently wipe out huge portions of the electric grid. This makes no logical sense.
@grumblesmudie3141 Says:
If Peter Dutton wins the next election he needs to remove these climate activists from the CSIRO and the Bom and replace them with scientists who deal in provable fact.
@ivanf6938 Says:
Hang on. Did the last Gencost report not say that Nuclear was 5 to 6 times more expensive? As Bowen, Chalmers and Miles and others kept parroting? Suddenly in this years report its 1.5 to 2 times more expensive? If that's the case you have to look seriously at it, even on the CSIROs figures. Unreliable power of no stated capacity or cost vs reliable baseload power that can fuel industry and keep people employed for twice the price. Can we apply the new misinformation laws to Bowens "6 times" claim?
@beepboop205 Says:
I wonder if the CSIRO factored in that if the government removed the nuclear roadblocks what the cost would be. It is something like 40% of nuclear cost is because of bureaucracy and interest from the delays government introduces to nuclear construction.
@KingsleyThomson-j1w Says:
The only plan B Albo has is BOWEN and his stupidity!!

It still baffles me as to why Snowy 2.0 hasn't been shut down yet, it's blown out to ten times the cost and for what it was it cost too much even at the original estimated price. Ditch it.

@peterbrown4943 Says:
$13 billion spent so far on Snowy Mountain 2.0. Which is years away.
@Ernst12 Says:
For instance today, looking at the NEM site, the renewables only contributed barely over 10% considering that the hundreds of billion dollars of renewables are standing idle doing nothing for 90% of the time during the winter. When it comes to batteries, the result was 0% because they can't fill the gaps. If the CSIRO hasn't got any electrical engineers, then it is high time that the organisation gets some because what is being proposed so far is nonsense as well as the costing which should be done using NPV and IRR with proper and competent economic appraisal such that renewables will need to be subjected to at least 3 20 year concatenated calculation periods with a commercial discount rate that stacks up in the real world, and each of the calculation period should show the total investment as well as the salvage value, recycling costs and CO2 emissions, restoration of the environment including removal of the 600 tone concrete foundations for the wind turbines, the recycling of the carbon fibre blades and an assessment of the particle pollution emanating from the blades during the life of the turbine, and for at least two of the calculation periods, most of the infrastructure needs to be replaced. As much of the infrastructure is idle most of the time, the efficiency factors of capital invested being underutilised, while taxes, fees, levies, commission, maintenance and repair are costs running continuously.
@richardfox6595 Says:
Nothing unreliable about so-called renewables. We can 100% rely on them to fail.
@99bevo Says:
They are trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes by claiming it half the price . The 1/2 the price renewable energy deal will power 1/4 of the Australian energy demand for 1/2 a day .. To produce enough renewable energy to power the entire country for 24 /7 with no power restrictions . Would cost trillions of dollars that will ultimately be added to the consumer power bill as each stage upgrade is being constructed. .. The Nuclear reactor would cost double the price of the stage 1 renewable energy to construct. The finished Nuclear reactor will produce enough electrical energy to power the entire country 24/7 with a large amount of energy produced to provide all Australian energy as the population grows as the higher the population the more energy will be required . So anybody with half a brain can easily see that although the initial outlay for a Nuclear reactor system is possibly double what the Labour government renewable plans cost . The nuclear power plan will have paid itself off long before the renewable energy plan has reached a scale big enough to provide our energy needs & the cost of the renewable energy plan will have blown out to 8 times the cost of nuclear energy by that stage . & Guess who's p ok power bill will be forever rising to pay for the upgrades being added to renewable energy that's right the Australian families . I shouldn't need to explain any further because this is a no brainer subject . The labour government are doing everything they can to please the greens even if it means sending Australia back 30 years . Yes we need to do what we can to stop climate change. But we need to reduce it in a time frame that Australia can afford . We just came of our economy being shut down for 2 years because of COVID . Australia can't afford to meet the net zero carbon footprint in the timeline that's been given . It must be done at a pace the Australian economy & it's citizens can afford .. If the labour government plans continue Australia will have more homeless that you can imagine . Young couples won't have a vehicle because they can't afford to buy an EV same as pensioners can't afford to the cost of an EV that won't do the things they dreamed about as they retire . Divorce will rise . Domestic violence will rise as families argue about money worries . Children will go hungry children will suffer from mental stresses. This labour Gumbyment have known idea what they about to cause
