Most people commenting don't own houses and don't have home owners insurance. In Florida you can't even get mobile home insurance on mobile homes built before around 1985 and most insurance companies won't even sell insurance policies on mobile homes built after that date. How do i know, because i own a mobile home in Florida and i bought it knowing the risk . And unlike the cry babies on here,i except the risk of losing my home. As to having a rv and vehicles and there is a evacuation in place then you should have left and went across the state. If you stay then you definitely run the risk of not getting paid. Same thing for people that intentionally drive into a flooded area. As to the pets take them with you they are your responsibility. People really have to be smarter.

I am no fan of the Ins industry but unless you like to roll the dice it's a necessity. You have to wonder if it was written into his policy on the camper that all necessary precautions be taken to reduce risk to include moving the camper, that being said I'm not sure 100 miles would've made much difference. Since it was a camper I wonder if he is in a position where if it comes to it he could just cut his losses and get another one. Tort reform would be a good step in reducing cost all the way around, for those with a mortgage you have no choice in the matter as you have to have Ins. As it stands right now it just sucks!!
