IF YOU WANT CONTINUOUS POWER YOU HAVE TO HAVE NUCLEAR POWER TO CHARGE YOUR EV'S AND NO BLACKOUTS OR HAVE NO NITE LIFE BACK IN 1800'S AS LABOR WORKS FOR THE UNITED NATIONS LIKE SO MANY OTHER NATIONS LEADERSHIP AND NOT FOR DUMB VOTING IDIOTS. MPK.
@garycollier385 Says:
We don’t need nuclear power when there is zero point energy sources available but the money and government won’t allow it to happen they’d rather poison everything and everyone to keep the power over the population

Uncle billy just bought nuclear power stations, so did amazon... Gee, our gutless wonders need an update..
@tonyquinn8405 Says:
Data centres are unbelievably power hungry and they are only in their infancy in Australia.

The whole debate is distorted by the Luddite Labor cronies with their money and their friends money invested into sucking every possible penny from the average Australian. A case of friends and policy before the needs of the people. The NETT Zero requirements is that we do not add carbon into the atmosphere is levels in excess of that which we extract from the atmosphere. Here is where the argument becomes blinkered. Ideally ALL of Australia's energy requirements need to be carbon neutral and this should include transport as well as industrial and domestic consumption. In order to accomplish this and VASTLY improve our balance of payments at the same time we should consider Hydrocarbons as a energy storage medium. Carbon can be extracted from biomass in all its forms and when combined with water and electricity a synthetic fossil fuel substitute can be obtained. To do this we need an energy generation capacity of more than 10 times what the federal government is planning. The quickest and cheapest source of electricity is nuclear in all its current generating formats. As for the water Electricity and waste/sea water makes pure water using desalination. Excess water allows for the increasing of agricultural lands and therefore carbon extraction from the atmosphere. PLEASE someone think of the 22nd and 23rd century NOW and start planning for an energy self-sufficient Australia by then or Australia will be little better than a sub-Saharan African nation of today. Albo should get serious about Australia's future or get out of the way!

The irony of the title of this video with the following content. Ths argument even 5 - 7 years ago would have struggled to be taken seriously. Are all the comments in here bots or is that common theme on Sky News clips? Yes I realise Sky News YouTube is purely targeting US Right Wing audiences.
@mikegofton1 Says:
The coalition push for nuclear energy is all about politics. The Greens control the Senate and won’t countenance nuclear energy , period. The ALP might want to lift the nuclear energy ban put in place by the Howard government, and let the market sort it out - the coalition would presumably support such a change, however the Greens would threaten to block all other ALP legislation. The economic argument for nuclear can be tested by looking at where energy investment is going in other developed democratic countries where nuclear is not banned (e.g. France, UK, Canada, USA) - renewables are dominating. Nuclear may become more cost effective - however we’re not there yet, and probably won’t be for a decade.
@connorduke4619 Says:
Defund the CSIRO - they are inhibiting scientific progress more than they are benefiting it!
@MariGolds2 Says:
Free market to decide, we would definitely be doomed to greed and doomed to leaking reactors, only a matter of time.. Renewables are fine , keep.nuclear energy and its radio activity out of the country.

Of course poor handling of the truth mmm must be something new hey
@chrisdickinson7949 Says:
Nuclear is the way to go, Clean, Green & Super Safe with Modern reactors Relatively cheap to Make, Maintain & Supply for all Aussies over their long lifetime A NO BRAINER for our future. But why bother when they can just keep on Doubling & Tripling our power prices to help pay for renewables :(

This is what we need honest debate. Good onya

@TAVOAu Says:
If they let Nuclear happen, it'll be seen as an admission they were wrong about their wonderland of windmills and solar panels. On the other side of the coin, it could affect 'certain individuals' investments in said windmills.

@paulwary Says:
Nuclear IS very expensive up front. But so are renewables. It’s just that the scale of transmission, storage and maintenance required for the vast, distributed, all-renewable system have been hidden, fudged, or assumed to be provided by the taxpayer’s own private expenditure.
@blwairconditioning4350 Says:
What people dont understand is for example 1 data centre in Fyshwick with 30 chillers each one uses more than 30 maximum households power draw just to start now add all the data centres around Australia
@tombradshaw5164 Says:
Good interview, but the "zero omissions" line is nonsense. Z-O is for the gullible fools out there who believe CO2 is a problem. Bullshit, because any reduction in anthropogenic emissions of CO2 will just be counter-balanced by the oceans and river systems increasing their natural output in order to bring any imbalances back into balance. Planet Earth has an inherent ability to do such, and FATHER (No, not MOTHER) has been doing so for 4.5 billion years. Try to change that if you wish, but GOOD LUCK!
@pwillis1589. Says:
The Barakah nuclear power station in the United Arab Emirates was recently commissioned at a cost of USD $32 billion. It took 8 years for each of the 4 reactors and took 12 years in total. The NEM would need 5 of these stations to meet demand, at AUD$268 Billion. While Casanova bowen is hiding the total cost of his AUD$3 TRILLION transmission infrastructure required to connect all the wind and solar projects. It is disgraceful. Liebor hates Australia.

So Australia digs up thousands of tons of coal and iron and sells it to China. The Chinese use the steel to build a new coal fired power station every WEEK. They then use the coal to power them. The taxes from the sale of these items keeps the Aussies in beer, fags, cocaine and footy. Meanwhile the Aussies are off on a green lunacy run. The hypocrisy is astounding.

Renewables have been on the go for 23 years and to date Renewables account for 39.4 per cent of Australia's total electricity supply. Bahahahaha 😆 So 46 years and we might make it to 80%. Oh!! No Sorry Everything will need Renewing by then. Bahahahaha 😆
@johnwoodrow8769 Says:
What aspect of electricity generation, is determined by "the market"? The answer is none. All forms are influenced and motivated by government policies and subsidies, especially renewables. So the idea of leaving nuclear to 'the market' to decide is another deception in this debate.
@robertwoollard2167 Says:
The Australian people should be able to vote on nuclear power.and go TRUMP 2024...
@johnwoodrow8769 Says:
BUT!!! Chris told me Australia can't afford or even need nuclear. We'll power it all from sunshine and when the wind is blowing, how cool is that! Surely someone as smart as Mr. Bowen wouldn't lie to me, would he?

Albo and Bowen along all of labor with the greens , all need to be in jail !!! pumping money into wind and solar only to benefit there mates back pockets is just criminal.... remember Albo just bought a waterfront holiday house !! what about climate change albo !!! what a Joke

Here's an example of facts "conveniently omitted or just simply glossed over” on Sky News Australia. On 23 Sep 2024, Dr Adi Paterson said: "𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸 30% 𝘰𝘧 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵. Part of the reason for high electricity prices in Europe was that by mid-Aug 2022, more than half of France's 56 nuclear reactors were offline, due to safety-relevant damage in the safety injection system, heat or drought, and scheduled shutdowns. EDF’s Executive Director of Generation and Engineering of the Existing Nuclear and Thermal Fleet called the year 2022 “𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴”. Per Statista, the average monthly electricity wholesale price in Finland, in the period Jan 2019 to Aug 2024 (€/MWh): * 2020 May: _ _ 19.46 (cheapest monthly price before OLKILUOTO-3 connection to grid) * 2021 Dec: _ _193.27 (highest in 2021) * 2022 Mar: _ _ 86.63 (OLKILUOTO-3 first connection to grid on 12 Mar 2022, per PRIS) * 2022 Apr: _ _ _79.42 * 2022 May: _ _132.35 * 2022 Jun: _ _ 140.33 * 2022 Jul: _ _ _183.92 * 2022 Aug: _ _ 261.53 (record high monthly price) * 2022 Sep: _ _ 215.46 * 2022 Oct: _ _ 113.21 * 2022 Nov: _ _ 195.62 * 2022 Dec: _ _ 245.60 * 2023 Jan: _ _ _ 78.87 * 2023 May: _ _ _26.52 (OLKILUOTO-3 commenced full ops on 1 May 2023, per PRIS) * 2023 Jun: _ _ _ 43.43 * 2023 Jul: _ _ _ 32.93 * 2023 Aug: _ _ _66.42 * 2024 Jan: _ _ 106.16 * 2024 Aug: _ _ _12.53 (cheapest monthly price in period 2019 to Aug 2024)

@kevinduffy6712 Says:
No country is using modular reactors . We need proper nuclear power stations . Now
@henrimoens8636 Says:
Why the obsession with 'Small' nuclear reactors. Virtue signalling? I'm only a little bit bad. Appeasing the environmental ideologues? We should start building what's tested and available now. Of course, new developments should be kept going for the right reasons: powering remote locations and building reactors on an assembly line.
