The NETT Zero requirements is that we do not add carbon into the atmosphere is levels in excess of that which we extract from the atmosphere. Here is where the argument becomes blinkered. Ideally ALL of Australia's energy requirements need to be carbon neutral and this should include transport as well as industrial and domestic consumption. In order to accomplish this and VASTLY improve our balance of payments at the same time we should consider Hydrocarbons as a energy storage medium. Carbon can be extracted from biomass in all its forms and when combined with water and electricity a synthetic fossil fuel substitute can be obtained. To do this we need an energy generation capacity of more than 10 times what the federal government is planning. The quickest and cheapest source of electricity is nuclear in all its current generating formats. As for the water Electricity and waste/sea water makes pure water using desalination. Excess water allows for the increasing of agricultural lands and therefore carbon extraction from the atmosphere. PLEASE someone think of the 22nd and 23rd century NOW and start planning for an energy self-sufficient Australia by then or Australia will be little better than a sub-Saharan African nation of today.
Albo should get serious about Australia's future or get out of the way!

With Labor, is it about stopping climate change or reduce CO2 emission where it makes a difference? Labor is talking about climate change and the rest of the world is talking about reducing CO2 emissions.
Nuclear too expensive? If Labor did their homework on the renewables it needs to tell the Australian voters what the real cost of the energy transition according to Labor is.
We still haven't got the costing from Labor on the renewables and it is high time that this issue is resolved.
