Chief Advocate for National Seniors Australia Ian Henschke says there's 'a lot of political action' happening in the bid to overhaul the pension system and allow seniors to work more hours.
'We hope that � where there's a lot of action there'll eventually be some real action, in other words, some changes to policy," he told Sky News host Chris Smith.
The fact you can own a $10 million plus waterside mansion and still qualify for the aged pension is clear evidence the aged pension system (meaning supported by young Australians who probably can't even afford to buy a home) needs a massive overhaul. Anyone who thinks all 'aged pensioners' are living on the breadline is naive.

The workload is a disgrace ; for the AINs the pay is low.. The ratio for AINs to residents in high care is unsafe , especially at night.
Unless conditions improve by employing more staff, improving the pay , the care of our elderly will be at risk.
If Pensioners want to earn extra income let them if they are fit, and the it is in keeping with the thresholds.

My wife is an aged care pca she reduced from full time to casual now just works 2 shifts on penalty hours only as the rates are so low. The business is very profitable though yet the aged there eat low quality meals and the staff would earn more stacking shelves (not trying to put down shelf stacking but its not caring for people directly is it).
