A meeting between US politicians and Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, led by Democratic Senator Ed Markey on Monday, has threatened to renew tensions between China and the United States.
The meeting took place in an effort to reduce mounting tensions in the region and to provide Taiwan with peace and stability.
China has responded by announcing it will conduct further military drills around Taiwan.
