There's no upside to Zebra Mussels. Zebra mussels can be toxic and not recommend for eating. In addition they are an incredibly invasive species killing off all native mussels and clams found in the area they take over. They are also very hard to kill off once they enter an area. They max out in size at 50mm or 2" but typically are the size of a finger nail. Watch the video again with the realization of how many fingernails it takes to cover that surface area.

Well muscles and shellfish in general filter water. Judging by how clear the water is in the video they must be doing a great job. If they're really worried, then harvest them off the wreck. Problem solved.

Amazing that shipwreck was only just discovered.... It's not uncommon nowadays to purposely sink ships, knowing they will become part of the oceans ecological system.
