There's a lot of areas where people can get guidance on such issues.
A library should reflect the values of the society they're servicing. People with conservative values don't want such books influencing children's sexual development. 1000% increase in presentations to hospitals for gender dysphoria in 10 years should be a strong warning sign that we need to act on this. Libraries have become victims of this ridiculous and woke society. We need to apply the brakes before we have a massive societal crash.

Honestly the disturbing thing about children's education throughout the 20th and 21st century is it has been highly centralised around indoctrinating the youth, and not actually teaching children to grow up and operate as an independent adult with values mostly in line with their local community or immediate family. Most children come home from school with entirely different views than their parents, and are raised on social media.
The role most parents seem to play in their child's development now is in paying for their upbringing. If you happen to be from a religious family or not the fact still remains that your children will be subjected to and most likely in favour of things you entirely disagree with and will have access to those things even without your consent or knowledge.
