President of the Ukrainian Community of Queensland Peter Bongiorni says the situation in Ukraine is 'varied'.
It comes after the battle for Kyiv is now underway with 'active combat actions' taking place on the streets of the capital and 'heavy battles" are ongoing in Vasylkiv.
'Some have bunkered down in their homes and their towns and their villages, some are fighting the enemy troops, and some have fled to Poland and other countries that are taking them in,' Mr Bongiorni told Sky News Australia.
'There's a sense of fear, uncertainty but a determination by all of them to keep Ukraine a sovereign country.'
The resistance within Ukraine by ordinary men and women across the entire country is becoming stronger and stronger. Even the Russian speaking East of Ukraine are totally opposed to this fascist invasion. The Russian Army is finding it hard going as their supply lines are increasingly under attack by armed militias who are prepared to lay down their lives to preserve Ukrainian Independence. This is a truly heroic struggle!
