Since 2014, Ukraine has been heroically fighting against the five times larger forces of Putin's regime, Russia known as the evil empire. We know from history that regimes and dictatorships bring global chaos, death, suffering and destruction. Ukraine must be admitted to the EU and NATO immediately. The next condition for guaranteeing world peace will be the transformation of NATO into GODA - Global Ocean Defense Alliance. GODA should be extended to include countries that apply democracy and the rule of law: Japan, South Korea. Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Israel, Argentina, Mexico, and any country that meets the admission conditions. GODA must be led by the US as the world leader of peace and democracy. After the period of democratization, Russia may be admitted to GODA. China and other non-democratic countries can be invited as cooperators and allies. Of course, to maintain world peace and security, all GODA members must spend at least 2% of GDP on defense. GODA can act as the world's policeman. If any terrorist group tries to violate the global rules of peace, GODA will send rapid reaction troops to suppress the revolt in the initial stage of development. In this way, the world can permanently eliminate the phenomenon of brutal, bloody and senseless wars causing death, destruction, trauma and suffering for millions of victims. Peace is good, war is bad and should be eliminated!

Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command of Ukraine's Armed Forces, told Ukrainian broadcaster Hromadske Radio that having control of the Dnieper River island in the Kherson region will significantly increase Kyiv's counter-sabotage measures.
After Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, his forces quickly occupied large portions of Kherson. However, Ukraine mounted a counteroffensive in the region later that year that saw its military liberate northern Kherson on the Dnieper's right bank. Since that time, Ukrainian forces have launched regular raids across the river, including the establishment of multiple bridgeheads on the Dnieper's eastern bank in the fall of 2023.
Pletenchuk told Hromadske Radio that Nestryha Island, which is about 12 miles southwest of the city of Kherson, holds "tactical significance." He added that "any locations that prevent the enemy from approaching our positions are important."
"Considering that the enemy usually uses similar locations—there are actually many such islands on the [Dnieper] River—to approach closer and to install mortar, then this is primarily important for the quality of counter-sabotage measures," Pletenchuk said. I should note, for the originating site of the article, that a MAP noting the specific location of the island would have been nice, to give people who are following the progress of Ukraine's fight to preserve its independence as a nation some kind of idea where the action is taking place and the progress Ukraine is actually making - to counter the Russian propaganda across all news sources (including and especially social media, including YouTube). There really ARE _lots_ of islands in the Dnipro River and being able to identify which one would be a good visual).
