The minerals needed come from dirty mine pits. They have to be shipped and refined. Then made into solar panels - solar batteries - wind turbines =- and shipped somewhere else. And all of that - equals - that all those processes - are done using - coal - oil - gas - nuclear energy - to make and transport those green energy machines.
What happens is. When politicians get voted out - because voters - see the SCAM. The big money people backing this scam - pull out - they have got their money. Governments have thrown billions of dollars at "this problem" - and they wont admit - they got taken for a ride.
