Mine have phones but they're not allowed social media. And NONE of them have become trans. So that says something already. ha ha

IMO, it has nothing to do with the kids, it's keeping up with the Jones's nothing more, 'my kids got the latest IPhone, mines got the latest Samsung' etc. Kids these days are generally just fashion accessories for their parents. When I was a kid if we wanted something we had to work for it doing chores or going around the neighbourhood chopping wood or raking yards.
@Harien-fs6gn Says:
This problem must only happen for the parents who enable their kids all the time. Kids under 14 years old are kids…they needs structure at home by parents and at school by teachers 😅

It's a matter for parents and their kids, NOT government.

I knew all about "No" as a child, as well as "Can't/won't/don't" due to being on the autism spectrum, despite being more capable than some people realise. But I grew up in the 70s and 80s when smartphones were science fiction.

This is one area where you really DO need government intervention because no, you will NOT get a whole group of parents to agree to be phone-free. Just look at the news reports where schools are banning phones during the day. Fully HALF of parents object! We need a law banning kids from the internet for the same reason we need a law banning them from alcohol and tobacco, because you CAN'T trust all parents to do the right thing. My son has been in an orchestra for 3 years and made zero friends there because all the kids have phones and as soon as there is a break, they are on the phones and don't socialize.

I know parents who use ipads as a child pacifier for very young children. Kid gets rigidity, here play with this. Now the kid screams if they don't get the device. The problem is WAY bigger than just 'social media'. It's actually a whole society wide problem. Some people can't even look up from their phone long enough to safely cross the road.
@johnwoodrow8769 Says:
Modern parents want to be 'friends' with their children rather than authoritative figures guiding them like the 'good old days'. The 'good old days' may have had some significant problems also, but throwing the baby out with the bathwater and going the complete opposite wasn't the answer.

Spankings and chores build character..

Is that a reused "domestic violence" thumbnail? ;p
@kamerons76 Says:
Maybe stop locking parents up. When I was a kid I knew kids who threatened their own parents with reporting them for abuse if they heard no.
@Goggyegg Says:
Government needs to make laws so drugos cant keep having kids for a income

Evelyn Rae is absolutely spot on! I am a woman who was raised in the 1950s in America and my mother called television an "idiot box". So we watched TV only on weekends, even in summer we played outside and watched TV sparingly. I now understand what Mommy meant, and I am grateful for her loving guidance ❤️

Kids are growing up with bad attitudes, no life skills or manners and INCREDIBLE amounts of self worth and entitlement… why? Because an iPad is now the new pen, paper, text book and a back hand is now classed as assault 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️… thought I’d throw that one in there too

This advice would be as effective as saying NO to a government in a referendum.
@user-hy2qo6lj2q Says:
I dont know how this will be enforcible
@DonaldDeCicco Says:
Your government (or mine) passes no laws that does not serve itself. They are couched as for the common good but rarely are. What you have is probably something that will dovetail into censorship for all.
@davepowelldrumz Says:
ot's not only kids , i wish they didnt have games on fbook , then maybe i could talk to my missus.
@AaronMason-f9q Says:
Your talking bollox. You cant live without phones etc these days.
@hollysmith1347 Says:
Mine love Playing outside, drawing or playing with blocks. They barely watch T.V or on games. Of course they are 6 and 3 years old. But they can't sit still for more then an hour max.
@elduchie68 Says:
It's not hard to get kids of devices. Or anything else for that matter. I recently saw a documentary on the ABC about kids not wanting to go to school and calling it "school anxiety." It was 48 minutes of shit parents who couldn't control their kids and coming up with this as an excuse. But then, trust the ABC to make a documentary about that.
@janwells2199 Says:
Cheap, communication only, no-internet devices & plans. If it's profitable, they will provide.
@MsWindiwoo Says:
What mystifies me is the fact that your can ban social media all you like but kids are still online and exposed to pedos, debauchery and generally disgusting images and behaviour. 🤢👌
@nadinevalent4436 Says:
when my niece was 14, she asked me why she was a brat. I said, your mom says no, no ,no, no. You whine and she then says, yes. I told her that this is one of the things that make kids brats
@CapsVODS Says:
I agree, or just add servers that are built into phones. Like add birthdate to device, and then from that point on all apps and services limit for age. AND add security encryption methods so pedophiles cant abuse this systemm though if a will theres a way idk, but def adding age limit restrictions per software is so important. Even for games like vrchat etc.

Didn’t get my first phone until I was 17
