So much for caring about our children's safety when this story was published yesterday in The News.... “Australia’s soft stance on serial sex offenders has made international headlines after a convicted paedophile who abused multiple children across the 80s and 90s was allowed to walk free from a Victorian court without serving a single night behind bars. Gary Bloom, a primary school teacher who preyed upon neighbourhood children in the 80s and 90s, was found guilty in 2023 of committing multiple penetrative sexual acts against a 10-year-old boy, who he met at a neighbourhood park.”

Kids have always been bullied and always will be. It doesn’t matter if the kids are of politicians. It can be anything. Taking social media away from kids isn’t going to stop the bullying.
@whatever9770 Says:
Yes.

What’s the big rush Labor?
@PapamoaWest-r4q Says:
This is simply to control the narrative and follow an agenda. Kids are being taught that it's important to have a point of view. But they're not being taught it's important to know what you're talking about. It's important to hear the opposite viewpoint, and more important to learn how to distinguish why viewpoint A and viewpoint B are different, and which one has the most evidence or logic behind it. These politicians disregard that. They want them to hear some rhetoric and run with it blindly.

Do adults without children still need this digital ID to gain internet access?
@7starlight32 Says:
Bullying has always existed. No one cared to do anything about it before we had social media. Damage just as big! WTF. Laws and bans NEVER fixed a problem, just makes it bigger and go underground and encourage lawlessness. Culture changes are needed not more laws. It is abhorrent they are taking away the rights of parents. So what is the antidote to apps? Make school and life interesting enough that they do not have interest in it! Why are we not teaching kids critical thinking, science, growing vegetable etc? We teach them shut up, sit down, don't question anything, of course they escape to apps!!!
@EL-FUKKO Says:
Labor are slimeballs. Every thing they do has ulterior motives. This social media is about a national digital ID. Labor couldn't give a rats arse about our kids. Thats their cover story
@Yourbrightspot Says:
The citizens already know the lies spread by their politicians. The politicians are now desperate to close both the ears and the eyes of their citizens. The western lie is falling and failing. The new age of real democracy is starting to shine.

Following the Queensland election, it's evident that major parties are giving preferences to each other. However, Queensland has only one house. The lower house in Parliament can be conceded to the parties since only one can form a government unless they establish a quasi-coalition. The focus should be on the Senate ticket. The upper house is where bargaining power is crucial; thus, placing the major parties last on the Senate ticket could prevent the automatic approval of corrupt legislation. It's vital for the public to value their Senate, as it represents voices from every community rather than being a singular entity that dictates our lives and compromises our wealth and prosperity. 🤠

It’s a secret push for digital ID for all Australian’s.
@Gungho1a Says:
Funny thing, bullying is rife in government run schools, as is sexual assaults, and governments have done exactly zero in real terms to address those issues. If they think that forcing social media companies to strengthen their anti child policies will see a reduction in harm they are living in fairy and rainbow land riding unicorns. The way to fix the ills of social media is to put a price on it, a subscription only model, and tax it. As is done with the persecution of smokers and drinkers, and in view of GST, anyone who buys food.
@ramozj6997 Says:
It's got nothing to do with kids but Digital ID for all. Which is all WEF. And Porn is not banned? Sky doing the work of the WEF . I will never vote LNP after this.
@tryingtoknow8190 Says:
The Commonwealth countries are all in together on this legislation. It's a King's order. You know, King Charles who co-launched the new age fascist Great Reset with WEF Klaus Schwab. Oh, you don't believe it? Well, he was still a Prince at the time, but he knew his mom was very elderly and he was bound to inherit the kingdoms.
@lyndabignell9660 Says:
Be warned LNP you risk losing the election if you vote yes for this bill.
@DavidShort-lf4jn Says:
Kiren rather than bully Keith about him wanting more time to consider the legislation, maybe you should turn your ire on the government on why they didn't bring it before the parliament a year ago hey?

@monsel97 Says:
Don't give the Government more control. This will be ammended and changed once it passes. We'll end up like the UK who locks people up for some tweets.
@darrenharvey6084 Says:
What is going to stop bullying in the play ground ?
@andersdottir1111 Says:
And HOW exactly is it going to be implemented?
@stuartdale347 Says:
Should be a parental decision, no involvement from the government what so ever. Overreach and shouldn't be tolerated.
@kare5252 Says:
Well done Keith I support your view on this.
@sparhawk1228 Says:
Us adults will be inconvenienced more so. We will have to link digital ID or prove we are an adult to existing accounts etc. This will make it more cumbersome to browse the internet with social media. It will also give hackers more avenues for things like identity theft. To gain access to personal information. Doxxing, scams etc. Also it will give government more control over speech over adults. I do not think this is about children. The government should not be doing the parenting. Leave that to the parents. If they want this. Give it to the people to vote on. 100% most people will vote against it. And they know this. Hence the rush.
@monsel97 Says:
It's all about wanting more control, and using children as the excuse. These Pollies are not really interested in the children.
