Annual wages expected to grow 2.7 per cent
The gap between wage growth and inflation in Australia is getting wider, with the Bureau of Statistics set to release wage growth numbers today. Sky News Business Reporter Ed Boyd says the expectation is wage growth will increase by 2.7 per cent. 'Which sounds great, but it is less than half the rate of inflation,' he said. Mr Boyd said it will 'take until 2024 for this gap to close'. 'So until then, in real terms, wages for Australians are unfortunately going to be going backwards for the next couple of years.'
