Annual wages expected to grow 2.7 per cent

????

The gap between wage growth and inflation in Australia is getting wider, with the Bureau of Statistics set to release wage growth numbers today. Sky News Business Reporter Ed Boyd says the expectation is wage growth will increase by 2.7 per cent. 'Which sounds great, but it is less than half the rate of inflation,' he said. Mr Boyd said it will 'take until 2024 for this gap to close'. 'So until then, in real terms, wages for Australians are unfortunately going to be going backwards for the next couple of years.'

Inflation is 15-18% and society gets a 3% raise. What a rug pull dumping people right on their faces.

CPI was 2.6% in 2018 pre covid. So what your saying is you will get your normal raise while inflation increases exponentially
@AsttoScott Says:
Wow, so 27 bucks if you earn 1000 excluding taxes. 27 dollars, enough to buy lunch... The head line would've been more interesting if it said Annual wages expected to buy you lunch once a week.
@electricsuitbatman Says:
2.7% is about 6.3% short of an actual raise.

We don't need wages growth, that just continues a monumentally stupid cycle of an increasing cost of living. The GREED MUST STOP and the cost of living MUST be brought down. Governments will not go against their greed driven overlords until people "force" them to. In a true democracy the government dose as it is told by the people, not the other way around like is is at present. What we have is pseudo communism.

@dillonc1900 Says:
There's is not growth in wages. If inflation is 18% and your raise is 2%, you took a 16% wage cut, due to inflation. The proper headline would be; Wages to drop by 16%. Not rise by 2%.
