LA 2028 - Brisbane 2032
@bonosos80 Says:
I don’t care. It’ll be great. I’m going to LA28 and Brisbane 32!
@dionf3858 Says:
Why didn’t Melbourne bid for them? Brisbane is too small to host such an international event
@johnfryberger9849 Says:
The games of 2032 will be the last moving Olympics IOC is going to place one city for winter and one city for summer games and not move them from country to country every four years.
@bicknell67 Says:
Each Olympics is different the host city should just embrace what you have.
@ronald3836 Says:
It's fine, not many people will be visiting the Brisbane Olympics anyway.
@GregoryFariss Says:
The size and cost of venues is not the point of the Olympics. In LA we have the luxury of all of the existing and paid for venues. The point is to host without creating long lasting debt.
@kevinestrada977 Says:
I am going to be a volunteer at the 2028 Summer Olympics. I would like to carry the Olympic Torch.
@johnbritto1337 Says:
My great wishes to next olympics 🗺️
@jboustead13 Says:
One of the great things about Olympics is the host city gets to put their own spin on the games. There’s no ‘right way’ to do it. There’s no ‘outshining’ or ‘overshadowing’ as every games is meant to reflect the host city and every city is different. LA can’t compete with the beauty and history of Paris and no one expects them to try. LA will do what LA does. Brisbane just needs to do their own thing and that’ll be more than enough. Looking forward to both.
@petelosuaniu Says:
Sofi stadium should be for Rugby 7s but I can see why they’d want a huge home crowd for swimming
@parmentier7457 Says:
But there will also be fewer visitors. Far fewer Europeans and North Americans will travel to Australia because of the distance.
@gabrielfinneran3611 Says:
Australia is also farther away from anywhere else that could reasonably host the Olympics. So fewer people will go
@zenniste Says:
Talking about stadium sizes seems odd now after the Paris games with lots of pop-up venues (against the backdrop of iconic landmarks).
@coyotelong4349 Says:
As an American I’m very excited for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. It’ll be an awesome spectacle 🤗 Plus I hope Gold Coast can play somewhat of a role, even though it’s not Brisbane… Those beautiful beaches and towering skyscrapers just look too good on TV Also, any time the “Summer” Olympics are being held in the Southern Winter, it’s always nice… Fans and athletes get to escape the heat and enjoy cool or even cold weather
@mrparts Says:
Brisbane has a smaller population and smaller economy. There is no need to spend more billions of dollars on larger venues that will not be used to capacity ever again.
@jarkkehhh213 Says:
Oh well, better cancel it. Brisbane doesn't want it 👌
@guilhermetavares4705 Says:
Brisbane was a curious choice. It's as if Brazil had chosen Salvador or Belo Horizonte rather than Rio de Janeiro. Perhaps the most unusual choice of the 21st century.
@lucero3945 Says:
Just to let Aussies know, LA has these venues already, as in, built for other events. We are a very big city, so that is the only reason we can do that. And we've hosted two other times. I'm an LA native, and I'm sure Brisbane will be amazing in its own right. Can't wait to go back to Australia!
@kbxr22 Says:
Looks great Brisbane! LA is thinking huge, but no doubt you Aussies got great plans and heart to make 2032 Awesome❤
@supremewhip Says:
Don’t worry. Our corruption, homelessness, and relentless crime here in LA will overshadow everything
@Max_m Says:
Bring in the monarch to start the Olympic Games like in 1952
@LOLWAAHH Says:
I mean you really can’t compare the two. Los Angeles is a top 10, some may say top 5, city in the world in the richest and most powerful country in the world and Brisbane….isn’t 😂
@elexg6982 Says:
No other city in the world has as much sporting infrastructure as Los Angeles. Not even a fair comparison.
@tedmink7568 Says:
Paris has set the bar for Olympic Sport Venues. Using 95% original venues, It has truly been magical to watch volleyball under the Eiffel Tower, fencing in the Grand Palais and Horse riding by the Versailles and much more. LA28 and Brisbane would have to work hard.
@neilboulton9813 Says:
To be fair to Brisbane they only got it because absolutely nobody else really wanted the expense of hosting. So it is not really difficult to win a one horse race. I did chuckle at usual Aussie dig at Paris hosting the best games in decades, what would that be then right back to Sydney I suppose! I bet both Beijing and London sold more tickets overall than Sydney, and Tokyo would have done without Covid. Brisbane looks like a large Commonwealth games when you compare it to hosts from aforementioned proper world cities. However they disgracefuly choked on hosting the Commonwealths so you don't want them to overspend and bankrupt Queensland ala Montreal.
@ben44700 Says:
paris 2024 are the best olympic games , i think los angeles not
@liukin95 Says:
The Americans always go bigger than they need to, so they'll always be a hard act to follow. As a Brit, I'm sure Brisbane will put on a fantastic games and I very much look forward to it!
@robertomarcucci3260 Says:
😂😂😂😂 drop in pool……. Fix your city first
@claudea9037 Says:
Paris also hosted the swimming as a temporary construction in a rugby and concert arena ☺️ Taylor Swift played their Paris-concerts in the same venue in may 2024. ☺️ I don't think Brisbane should build bigger stadiums without a legacy plan. otherwise media will show those too big stadiums as an example how citys should NOT host the games
@TheSuperhouse5 Says:
No idea how Brisbane got it. Terrible location 💤
@arachnid4910 Says:
Are going to build walls around the LA coliseum? That area has some extreme poverty around it…
@SacerKtracho Says:
You can't beat LA. 🎉
@tobiwan001 Says:
Brisbane was the only bidding city left, after the IOC rejected the the bid of the Rhine-Ruhr region as they wanted a city - not a region - despite saying otherwise before. Very few cities now even want to host the Olympics.
@nobotshere8364 Says:
Don't worry, it'll be waayyyyyy better than Paris.
@jorgeortega6806 Says:
Brisbane is the most boring Olympic host weve gotten since...oh...Sydney
@JacobDiCamillo Says:
I will be so ashamed if they use q sac how pathetic is the goverment in queensland getting the olympics and forgetting about a stadium
@davider3590 Says:
As an American I can certainly say Brisbane will be much better. It’s not about quantity but quality and LA is not a beautiful city to portray the games. Sorry if someone gets offended but that’s the reality.
@youcantalwaysgetwhatyouwan6687 Says:
Los Angeles is literally the only Olympics ready city in the world
@flywithnova9832 Says:
Paris has set the bar for their opening ceremony. Unfortunately, Brisbane is such a young city with the lack of iconic buildings and infrastructure. They can make up with an explosive stadium opening though. Just don't leave the planning to the same group who organised the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Haha
@latlj1283 Says:
I am from LA, I rather go to Brisbane where it is safer....and hopely smell better.
@Allaiya. Says:
Ok, as a Midwest American, I’d rather the city of LA & Brisbane not go into debt to host the Olympics. Use what resources you have available. Please, please, please don’t overleverage yourselves just to host the Olympics for the sake of your citizens, like many cities in the past did. I am not sure how Brisbane compares (honestly never heard of it before; no one overseas has heard of where I live either) but LA is the second biggest city in the US, so of course their venues are huge. At the end of the day, as long as the athletes have a good place to sleep and compete, it’s all good. So who cares if it holds less? Just means prices for tickets will be higher. Looking forward to learning more about your city when the time comes. 👍
@LuckyK7777 Says:
Congrats Brisbane from an American that grew up in the Los Angeles area and experienced the 1984 Olympics there! You will love it🙂
@AJXOXO-vz1pn Says:
The stadiums in Brisbane just are not big enough.
@williammoore27 Says:
2028 Olympics should just have some new major professional sports league in USA & Canada like water polo, rugby, field hockey, volleyball, handball and so much more in every Olympic sport!🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏟🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅
@jazzybeardancer Says:
Both will be great. This is literally the example of what parents do to not compare siblings. Each Olympics offers something different and that’s okay. As an American, I’m more excited to see what Australia has to offer.
@davidmaguire3521 Says:
Im sure Brisbane will be fine. Shame they didn't want to practice with the commonwealth games
@Mauri-jb9up Says:
I am sure Brisbane has superior infrastructure and public transport system
@MrDelvoye Says:
who gave them the Olympic without voting process weired
@takuma82 Says:
Bigger doesn’t always mean better…. Both cannot compete with the esthetic and unique venues in Paris ! 😄
