Shark nets provide a 'false sense of security'
NSW Liberal MP Adam Crouch says the only way you can guarantee to not be bitten by a shark is to 'swim in a pool'. Multiple New South Wales councils are lobbying the state government to go without shark nets this summer for the first time in 100 years and to utilise new technology, according to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald. 'Nets provide a false sense of security," Mr Crouch told Sky News host Chris Kenny. 'Shark nets do not completely protect beaches and we have had incidents of fatalities on netted beaches going back over since 1937.'
