Police stopped traffic going over the bridge? How did anyone know the ship was going to hit the bridge before it happened? and if they did know, why didn’t they get the construction crew off the bridge?

As a road worker, my heart goes out to the families of this crew. Since I first saw their lights on the bridge, my heart has broken for them. They never saw it coming and were on break in their trucks, just like we do during breaks. I can't imagine the horror they experienced as they plummeted to their doom. Those poor souls... 😔

I live here in Baltimore...This is a tragedy and my prayers go out to the guys that were on the bridge.. when this collapsed it took a piece of everyone that saw and used it on daily basis..

Listening to the radio of everything, it sounds like NO actually thought the ship would do any damage. One gentleman said that he was going to go alert the crew, once everything was cleared or something to that effect.
Then the other crew member said he heard yelling and jumped… we honestly can’t say if they were aware of what was happening or not.

Everyone needs to understand even if they had warned the workers on their breaks, in their own personal cars it took take to close the bridge which they had literally no time to begin with and time to try and contact the construction workers which with the 2-3 minutes they had not much time to work with specially if the workers didn’t have a fast way of ahold of, keep in mind police literally just had cleared the bridge like a min before it collapsed which gives no time even if advised to get away from the collision
